As a kid I learned to do quilling to decorate note cards. I put it away a long time ago. More recently I've worked in metal making filigree jewelry pieces. The piece on the cover of this book caught my attention as I thought it was metal filigree, at first. I like the clean, contemporary designs of the projects which has renewed my interest in the forms common to quilling. I'm hoping the techniques will be readily adaptable to strips of metal. I'll find out shortly when I start to working on pieces inspired by the projects in the book.
I bought this for my mom as a gift and we had a great deal of trouble following the directions. Granted, I started with one of the more complex designs, but there was no indication how large each piece of the design should be. The overall dimensions were provided and the length of the quilling strips were provided, however the size of each element was not. This was really confusing when making, for example, a marquis - I had no idea how large to make each one and my guess as to the size led to the elements not fitting together. Thus my finished product looked nothing like the photos in the book.
It was everything I was looking for. The pictures and the explanations are excellent.

I wouldn’t recommend. Check library first before you spend money. Instructions were not as detailed and seemed to make a lot of assumptions. It’s fine but a little frustrating.
