This book was recommended by our Pastor Steven Huntley of True Divine Baptist in Montgomery Alabama. I read the one on Kathryn Karhlum and now Billy Graham. I have always been fascinated with the both of them. The power of the Holy Spirit that seem to empower them when they speak. How the message about JESUS Christ seem to come to life as I watched them as a young girl. Now that I am older that message is still just as powerful today. They are great pioneer's for JESUS Christ.
Roberts Liardon's book Gods Generals helps us all gain the insight to what it means to follow Jesus. A true leader leads by example not by lectures on how it's done. These Generals gave it all and produced fruits that showed they were of the Fathers heart for the better part of what they lived out. My desire is to follow the Holy Spirit and yield to Jesus when he speaks and gives insight. This should produce fruits that resemble the Father God's heart.
I loved reading this history of revival. I was so encouraged and couldn't read it fast enough. I didn't want it to end. I didn't think that this book would impact me as much as the Reformers, but it did.
Great book. Kindle version has no table of contents. You can save books marks for each chapter so that you can locate each General faster in the future. That, of course, is not a problem with the book but Kindle. Otherwise it is great to read about how these people got their start and overcame their adversity as opposed to blaming it on their circumstances or the hand they were dealt in life. The focus of this book is on noted reformers and revivalists. I also really liked the "God's Generals" that looks at the lives of the healing evangelists (Wigglesworth, Lake, Woodworth-Etter, etc).
We need to read books like this in order to be inspired by the great men and women of the past who were passionate about Jesus.
Bought this for my husband and he said it was an outstanding book.
This book is a wake up call for our generation to seek God with all our hearts that we may experience His power and healing. He used these ordinary men that were so given to Him in such a mighty way, what can He do with a 21st believer who lives in a time when knowledge is increased?
It is wonderful to learn about those before us.
