About the Author
Giovanni CivardiI was born in Milan in 1947. While training to become a sculptor, portrait artist and illustrator at the Free Life-Study School of the Accademia di Brera, he also studied medicine and surgery. For over a decade, he worked as an illustrator, producing commissions for newspapers, magazines and book covers. During frequent trips to France and Denmark, Civardi put on one-man exhibitions of this work and pursued his interest in studying the relationship between medical anatomy and the human form as depicted by the artist. His experience gained from teaching anatomy, life drawing and portraiture in schools and institutions over many years has led to the publication of numerous books in which Civardi's experiences are brought into focus.

Great for ref and copypretty much that, it doesnt goes too deep into anything really. Its kinda thin and the font is large, but all in all its what you'd expecrt. A real nice ref book on anatomy of the average person and not those "bulky super humans"Also good to note that this artists drawings are gourgeos, even his sketchs got that feel of form and roundness to them that feels great!Be warned, this is not a how-to nor tutorial. It got some nice tips, but dont go in-depth on anything at all
This book goes into great detail as to the details of different muscle groups and how they affect expressions and poses. It is not a "How to Draw" book in the sense of "start with a base sketch, then do x y and z" so do be careful if you're looking for more of a how to.However, if you are a bit more experienced in drawing this is a wonderful reference for the artist wanting to draw poses, body parts and expressions of various kinds.
Very good book on anatomy. I always like his books. I beginning to have a collection of them.
I really enjoyed this book and still do, anytime I am hunting for inspiration on poses or just need some guidance for a certain pose I can normally flip through this book for referencing. Great tool and has tons of helpful tips and guides!

I've ordered this book 3 times. I suspect my students steal it. It's a must have for technique. I use it in class so that my students mimic the beautiful illustrative technique of this artist.
