Too basic
This book is an absolutely crucial read if you live on the west coast or have friends or family living there! Besides an abundance of knowledge regarding earthquakes, tsunamis and survival, the author provides valuable references for future study. Awesome book!
I read a lot of books but it was boring to me. Maybe if I was into the subject matter more; I`d find it more interesting.
I live in Alaska, the capital of earthquakes. I've been through countless earthquakes and tsunami warnings, and it's true that you only have seconds to react once the shaking starts. I purchased two earthquake alarms for my home and they pick up primary waves from earthquakes, giving you at least ten seconds before the secondary wave strikes. Ten seconds is enough time to get somewhere safe before the shaking starts.
Damian Brindle’s book: 9.0 Cascadia Earthquake Survival has three distinct parts: Earthquake Science, The Cascadia Disaster, and Survival Solutions. It is straight forward, easy to read, and has tons of awesome references that you can peruse at your leisure. There are several lists to help you get prepared. Brindle’s writing is clear, concise, and easy to understand. I believe that he covered the subject matter thoroughly. This book is an excellent reference book for earthquake regions everywhere.
Damian goes into great detail on WHY this earthquake WILL happen, it's not a matter of if, but when, and he helps to provide you with the tools to recover and survive the aftermath. Another good read.
This book has some very useful info and ideas I haven't thought about before. While I don't live in the area the book covers, I do live in a state with a fault line. Earthquakes are not at the top of my "be prepared for" list, however they are something for me to think about. I read about some new ideas to think about and act on.
This man knows about Earthquakes. He lives in California! He has done wonderful research on the coming Megathrust Quake That Will Devastate the Pacific Northwest. I live in both a area that has a earthquake fault but also a dormant Volcano about 30 to 40 miles from where I live. The information will be very helpful to my family and to any other person living in a earthquake or Volcano fault area.
