I buy Julie and Boris' work every year and it is consistently wonderful. I have enjoyed their art work for years, and Boris many years prior to that. The world needs more spectacular fantasy art work, till then I will proudly display this work on my wall every year.
I have loved fantasy art all my life and my two favorite fantasy artists are Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell. In the past I have purchased numerous fantasy books with their beautiful and unique drawings. I also purchase their calendars every year. I just purchased their 2016 Boris Vallejo & Julie Bell’s Fantasy Calendar from Amazon. Their drawings are always fantastic showing beautiful women warriors, strange and fascinating landscapes and other-worldly monsters.There are thirteen all-new paintings in this 2016 calendar. Some of these include Firethorn, intertwined, the offering, firestorm, the messenger, on Dragon’s wings, the final battle and soaring higher. In my opinion Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell are the best fantasy artists in the world.If you are a fan of Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell’s fantasy art you should check out this 2016 calendar. I'm a real fan of Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell and so I thoroughly enjoy each and every month of this wonderful calendar!My husband is not a fan of theirs, nor interested in Science Fantasy Art and yet if I forget to turn the page the first day of the month he does so without fail. He only does so with this particular calendar. Just between you and me, I think he is excited to see what the illustration for the new month will be. That, in itself, says a lot for this calendar in my book!
my family are huge Boris fans. However; we are NOT thrilled with Julie Bell. Here art may be good, but it makes NO SENSE when added to the realm Boris has portrayed for decades!! It is impossible NOT to tell the difference between who painted which pictures. My family has NEARLY stopped our tradition of our yearly purchase (it is a gift from me to my dad and I order one for myself as well. Julie is a wildlife artist, NOT fantasy! She TRIES but she simply cannot create the fantastic images that Boris does. Her dragons are more like feathered birds than the beastly creatures that Boris creates. In addition she (julie) seems to repeat the themes of EACH picture she paints, they are ALMOST identical except with a few changes. In this year's calendar she (Julie) painted a woman interacting with (one of her bird like dragons) with a PEACOCK on the woman's shoulder!! How does that even REMOTELY fit in!!!! WE want a straight up complete BORIS calendar!! Minus Julie. She (Julie) is talented in her own right, she therefore would in my opinion do better creating a calendar by herself, and not tarnishing decades of the EXPECTED artwork that millions of fans have come to admire and anticipate yearly from the amazingly talented Boris Vallejo!
Like the other reviewer, my brother has been collecting this calendar since 1980. In the early years I would hustle around to various brick and mortar stores trying to find it for him for a Christmas present. As the years passed, this activity became more time consuming because this calendar is apparently popular and not carried in many stores, or it sells out fast. This calendar is not for everyone. All of the pictures involve women in the company of fictional creatures of some sort, dragons or other imaginary or mythical things that fly or crawl. In any case, the art work is tastefully and creatively done, with no nudity. Amazon has been carrying this calendar for a few years now, competitively priced, making it easy to obtain. Thank you, Amazon.
Beautiful fantasy art by Boris and Julie, and one of the best calendar grids I've ever seen. It's black on white for high contrast, and while the numbers are in a fantasy-style font, they are imminently readable at a whopping 3/8-inch in height. It marks several US and European holidays, but it has no astronomical notations (moon, solstice,etc).
Boris and Julie's art work is nothing short of fabulous. I really appreciate the depiction of each month's subject matter in their beautiful and tasteful illustrations. Each of Boris and Julie's calendars have a year of myths and fantasies presented in their superb paintings. I look forward to each calendar and 2016 will be my 35th proudly displayed year of these fantasy calendars and I certainly hope they continue for years to come.
Boris Vallejo & Julie Bell's Fantasy Calendars have been a Christmas Gift every year since we've been married. We especially enjoy the beautiful, colorful and artful expression that is found monthly all year long. Large daily spaces to circle special dates, write notes or use to meet your needs. So many calendars to choose from but this one will never disappoint you! Enjoy it for yourself or spoil someone in your life. Highly Recommend!
I've bought Boris Vallejo & Julie Bell's calendars for years mainly for the other worldly pictures of Dragons & other mythical creatures. No one draws these like the two of them. I never feel disappointed upon getting the new Calendar. Quality in every picture I never think the calendars are pricey.My birthday is December 28th these are my birthday gift to me they have never failed me.
