Michael Reynolds is a New York–based creative director, editorial stylist, exhibition and set designer, advertising director, curator, and visual brand consultant. He helped to create Wallpaper* Magazine, for which he currently serves as U.S. editor. He also is a contributing editor for Architectural Digest, among other publications. Mayer Rus is the West Coast editor of Architectural Digest. He has contributed to The New York Times, Vogue, Artforum, W, and Wallpaper. Photographer Martyn Thompson’s signature painterly images have made him a regular collaborator with the world’s leading brands and publications. This book is heaven. The photographs are luscious and seductive, and the juxtapositions of the drawings with the spaces are genius. It's rare to get such an intimate look at how an iconic artist incorporated his love of his subject matter into his own spaces, and the pacing of the imagery tells that story masterfully. The design is clean and quiet and tonally spot on. It's the perfect gift for any homo on your list. I bought 2 and will no doubt be back for more. Bravo.
An absolutely superb collection of Tom's preliminary drawings juxtaposed to the details and rooms of Tom's House. Loved seeing all of the details from the books, to the phalluses, to the tchotchkes, etc. all amazingly photographed. I've been a fan of ToF for more than 25 years and was fortunate enough to see the exhibition in NY at The Artist's Space last June. Thank you to Mr. Reynolds, Durk Dehner, The ToF foundation, and everyone who made this book possible. I hope to visit this house some day in the future.

The book is a hybrid: an interiors book (with sumptuous shots by photographer Martyn Thompson) a showcase for TOF's work (many of his drawings and sketches have been printed for the first time), and a genuine insight into one of the world's most unique residences (not many associate Tom of Finland with Los Angeles). Not just for Tom of Finland fans, but anyone interest in erotic art and its influence on art, culture and politics. Snap it up!
This coffee table book is certain to be a classic! I recently purchased this book and was mesmerized from the moment I cracked the spine. This is an exhilarating room-by-room journey through the entire property that is TOM HOUSE, combined with Tom of Finland's rarely seen preparatory sketches. Beginning with the succinct and thoroughly entertaining introductory essay by the brilliant critic Mayer Rus, the book lavishly unfolds, page by page, with gorgeous photographs of TOM HOUSE by the great photographer Martin Thompson. I have been through this book several times since I purchased it two weeks ago and consider this one of the finest art books in my collection. This is a beautiful book that will be cherished for years to come.
